ABOUT US

The Sheriff’s Toy Project functions as a charitable arm of the Sacramento Sheriff’s Office and a local outreach program to the communities we serve. Though we emphasize the winter holiday season, we also fill special requests throughout the year. We partner with non-profit agencies and local schools.

The Sheriff's Toy Project is a remarkable initiative that unites peace officers, non-profit organizations, private donors, and businesses to support less fortunate children and families. This program creates a character-building environment for participants in the Sacramento County Sheriff's Work Project, who collaborate with law enforcement officers to aid individuals in need or facing hardships. These participants spend their court-ordered jail sentences crafting toys, refurbishing bicycles, and completing various wood projects. The Sheriff's Toy Project bridges the gap between law enforcement, those in need, and generous community members, fostering a spirit of giving and support.

Since 1984, the Sheriff’s Toy Project has been a beacon of hope in our community, providing a wide array of gifts, from school supplies and refurbished bicycles to basic necessities and food boxes for families in need.

Referrals for recipient families come through our Sheriff’s Service Centers, Sheriff’s Deputies, Detectives, Probation Officers (Adult & Juvenile), Social Service Agencies, Schools, Sacramento Metro-Fire, and local non-profit organizations.

In addition to our annual holiday toy and food give-away, the Sheriff’s Toy Project partners with local area hospitals, pediatric services, to provide Christmas stockings filled with gifts for children who are undergoing chemotherapy or suffering from other illnesses.
